I was the city clerk for the city of Calgary and met Helen when she started work and at the city and I was just beginning my career. She came to the office to organize the committee records and develop a system for reappointments, terms etc. it was a mess that she untangled and cleaned up. She only wanted to be temporary and when she finally came on almost full time she worked in the aldermanic office. I laughed with her many times over the foibles of our jobs and when she left talked with her about community issues. She had a great sense of humour and could organize a herd of cats and often did
. The world needs more Helen.
I’m so sorry to hear the passing of Helen. My deepest condolences to the family and friends. I have many fond memories of hanging out with my parents and your family growing up.

The world lost a powerful women. Auntie Helen, you were so special to me on so many levels. I loved being around you as there was always something going on. I loved that you taught me to type as you are forever with me from this simple act of kindness. I'll never forget my first typewriter came from you too. I loved it. I'll never forget your cabbage rolls either! One of the things I loved most was that you always made me think, you challenged my thoughts and made me dig deeper. Thank you for taking care of us for so many years when we were young. I loved our final time together. Uncle Lawrence, you and me. It felt so good and I didn't want it to end! May you rest in peace and I'm sure you are somewhere reading a newspaper and or redecorating!
To Dennis, Larry & Colleen my heartfelt condolences to you and your extended families. May Auntie Helen rest in peace.
love bruce
