Obituary of Helen Irene Muraski

July 17, 1933 - November 23, 2023 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Muraski on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at the age of 90 years, she is now reunited with her husband of 69 years, Lawrence “Larry” Muraski. May they rest in peace. 

Helen was a President of CWL Active, a valid member of the Millican-Ogden Community, and an active member of the St. Bernadette Catholic Church. She was employed at Co-op, Horn and Pitfield, and a dedicated employee of 20 years in the Alderman office of the City of Calgary. Helen enjoyed traveling and socializing with friends, being outdoors, and playing cards. She loved spending time with family and enjoyed life to the fullest. 

Helen is survived by her two sons, Dennis (Zena) and Larry (April); daughter, Colleen; six grandchildren, Russell (Tina), Devin and Sean, Taylor (Victoria), Rayleen, and Brittany; and four great-grandchildren, Ava-Lynn, Spencer, Emma and Layla. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Wayne, Carol, Mary-Helen, Dale and Helen; as well as many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Helen was predeceased by her son, David; granddaughter, Candice; parents, Katherine and John Sphak; sisters, Mary Prystenski and Marjorie Ann Wrights; her niece and nephews, Bill, Kathy and Brian.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church (7103 – 20A Street S.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Helen’s family here.
