Obituary of Don Lindberg

September 23, 1941 - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

November 25, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Don Lindberg of Calgary, AB, on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the age of 82 years.

Don was born in Saskatoon, SK on September 23, 1941. He moved to Calgary, AB in 1963.

After a short time in the forces and a variety of jobs, he joined his dream job with the Calgary Fire Department in June 1966.

He was one of the founding members of the Honour Guard which he proudly served for many years. Don spent a lot of years in the training division and a brief time as Public Information Officer. His last few years, before retirement, he chose to go back on the floor where he retired as a Captain.

Don had a huge zest for life and enjoyed many hobbies and activities. He had horses and rode in many parades. Competing in Gymkhanas and rodeos over the years. He loved fishing in his boat, hunting, riding dirt bikes, skiing, and golfing. “If its fun, I’m up for anything” were words he lived by. Don loved to dance and was always the life of the party, you could hear his infectious laugh a mile away.

He had a great passion for old cars and trucks. Some of which he entered in the World of Wheels and won many trophies.

Don left us with many funny stories and memories. His humour and sharp quick wit will always be cherished.

Don is survived by his daughters, Debbie Gibson, Lorie Lindberg (Doug), and son Rick Lindberg (Chermaen) all residing in Calgary, AB; his grandchildren, Derek Gibson (Sheena), Kayla Gibson (Matt), Cody Lindberg, Kianna Lindberg, all of Calgary, AB; and his great-granddaughter Brooklynn Imbeault of Calgary, AB. He was predeceased by his parents George and Olive Lindberg and his two brothers, Doug Lindberg and Richard Lindberg.
