Obituary of Patricia Mary Evelyn Chiasson

Patricia Mary Evelyn Chiasson (nee LaRocque) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023 at the age of 81 years.

Patricia was born in Saint John, NB, on December 23, 1941. The oldest of six siblings, Pat was a responsible, sweet, studious child, and graduated from St. Vincent's High School in 1959. That very same year, she entered St. Joseph's school of Radiographic Technology and graduated in 1961.

She married Paul E. Chiasson in 1966, and moved to Bathurst, NB, in 1969 where she went on to be the manager of the Medical Imaging Department at the Regional Hospital Center for forty active years, all while raising five daughters.

She volunteered at the High River Hospital, Seton Hospital, and the Alberta's Children's Hospital a total of ten years.

Patricia had so many loves and hobbies. She was a keen enthusiast of the outdoors and loved hiking and the mountains. She had a love of hot air balloons, appreciating their serenity and beauty, and often took part in festivals. She even was able to ride in one, a definite high for Pat. She loved to dance, especially line dancing, and was an avid mahjong player.

Pat was a world traveler and had a wonderful sense of adventure. Always the first to hop on a plane, from Spain to Qatar, and all-over North America. She loved the sights and experiences but first and foremost, her drive was to see family, especially her many grandkids, and of course her mom, brothers, sisters, and beloved daughters. Family meant so much to Pat.

She will be most remembered for her kindness, her soft-spoken manner, her smile, so full of love. She was grounding and real, genuinely one of the sweetest souls to walk the earth.

Survived by her five daughters, Jennifer Keilty, Libby Gavin, Stephanie Chiasson, Rebecca Goodbrand, and Mia Fontaine; five siblings, Gordie LaRocque, Beth LaRocque, Joanne Rowland, Paul LaRocque, and Peter LaRocque; eleven grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Gordon LaRocque and Betty LaRocque.

A Celebration of Patricia’s Life will be held at the High River Alliance Church (1318 9 Ave SE, High River, AB) on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Patricia’s service streamed live (Zoom Meeting Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84467374448?pwd=SnNyWEQyeWtiUXdtZEoxb0xuZk5NQT09, Meeting ID: 844 6737 4448, Passcode: 191239) on the day of the service.
