Obituary of Alan Robert Law

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our most beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, Alan Law on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the age of 76 years.

Born on May 19, 1947, in Calgary, AB, Alan spent his childhood in Calgary, eventually attending Queen Elizabeth High School where he met his high school sweetheart, and wife of 53 years, Marlene.

Alan was a man of many skills and talents, ones that he used throughout his work history first at Vanguard, then his many years working as a parts man at Greyhound Canada.

Alan was known for his many hobbies such as riding his Harley to Water Valley, tooling around with his sweetie, Mar, in their convertible on a hot summer day, falling asleep behind the wheel of his ‘parked’ Ford model A listening to classical music, having his weekly Friday dinner at Greco’s with his dear friends, breakfast with his old co-workers, or just sitting on a bench shaving whilst taking in the peacefulness and beauty of the countryside at his sister-in-law’s acreage. He really enjoyed everything he spent time doing and he was truly born for retirement. You would always find him creating, whether it be with carpentry, welding, mechanics, there was always a project on the go. Al was a brilliant mind, always willing to lend a hand or give some advice. He was looked up to in many ways as a mentor, teacher, and an all-around role model.

Alan will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Marlene, sister Glenda, his five sisters-in-law and their spouses, numerous nieces and nephews, and his old school friends (more like brothers) Les, Len, Ken, and Rick. Alan was predeceased by his father Robert, mother Virginia, brothers-in-law, Mike and Terry, nephew Shaun, and schoolmate Larry (Butch).

We wish to thank all those who prayed and sent well wishes throughout Alan’s short illness, especially his niece, Amy. We are grateful to you all for making us feel so loved and cherished.
