Obituary of Giulia Concetta Pasquini

December 8, 1935 – Ortona, Chieti, Italy

December 24, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Giulia Concetta Pasquini of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at the age of 88 years.

Giulia was born in Contrada Bardella, Ortona, Chieti, Italy. She married Vittorio Pasquini on October 25, 1959, and in June of 1960, she immigrated to Canada where she joined Vittorio who had immigrated earlier in 1952.

Giulia worked for 35 years with Rosedale Cleaners, receiving countless awards and bonuses for her outstanding dedication and hard work. Giulia retired in 2000, so she could spend more time with Vittorio and her family often travelling home to Italy to see her brother and sister and numerous cousins.

Giulia was dedicated to her faith. She was a proud religious person and member of Our Lady of Grace Italian Church.

Giulia’s family always came first. She loved to socialize and be in the company of her family and friends. She loved everyone she met and easily made friends. Giulia was a strong, healthy, independent lady. December 4, 2023, was the only time she was ever hospitalized, due to health reasons, where she showed determination and commitment to return home to her family.

Giulia is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Enzo and Antonietta of Calgary, her sister Lidia, her brother Ciro (Mafalda), as well as Michele and Tony. Giulia is also survived by the D’Angelo, Pasquini, and Rossi families. Giulia was predeceased by her husband Vittorio, her brother-in-law Giuseppe, her cousin Carlo, and Mamma Rosa.

The family would like to thank the Foothills Medical Centre: emergency staff, doctors, nurses, and caregivers of Unit 62, especially Unit 44 for the utmost love, care and compassion shown to Giulia and our family over her last few days. Special thanks to Carewest Sarcee, Unit 2 where she affectionately became known as “Mamma” and her new friend Lalani who was her personal cheerleader and inspiration.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary Mother of the Redemer Catholic Church (1714 - 14^th Avenue NE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queens Park Mausoleum. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Pasquini’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Giulia’s family here.
