Celebration of Life
Condolences
Dear Karen, Amy, Ian and family,
Thank you so much for making it possible for friends from far away to join the beautiful tribute to your mum.
I have lots of great memories of your mum's warmth, kindness and mischievous sense of fun. I remember her beautiful garden, the many cups of tea with cookies (and oatcakes) - and I remember her little bum signature. I also remember how I often "missed my bus" home when Karen and I were in elementary school, and so I "had to" go back to your house with Karen. I don't think that we fooled Anne for a minute, but a warm hug was waiting for me every time. The welcome was so warm that I lingered long enough to mooch an invitation to dinner. Some years later your mum and Karen stayed with me when my mom went to Australia for a month. We had a really wonderful time, and while I may not have fully appreciated it at the time, I know now that it was important to have had her to talk to and confide in at that age.
I am very lucky to have had your mum in my life.
My deepest condolences to you and your families
Kirsten
My Memories of Anne:
I was invited to spend some vacation time with the family near Fort Steele, BC. At the time, Anne had a BMW 2002 tii, and she knew how to drive it! I recall her driving it rather rapidly down a gravel road with us kids as the passengers - thrilling experience to this day!
Another memory, of Anne's creativity, was of one of Ian’s birthday parties, where we were invited to wear a blindfold and feel the “aftermath of a car crash”...grapes for eyeballs, cooked spaghetti, etc…must have made an impression on the psyche, as I still remember it.
She was also calm and patient (at least to me)...thinking of the time I walked through their screen door while we were sleeping “outside” on the deck…..
Rest in peace Anne
Robert Francis
