Obituary of Anne Cusworth

In loving memory of Anne Cusworth who passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023, at age 85, after a difficult struggle with Parkinson’s and dementia.

Anne immigrated to Canada with her husband David and children in the 1960s. While raising her family, she completed a Bachelor of Social Work degree at the University of Calgary. After a brief stint as a social worker, she returned to her former occupation as an executive assistant; it was at this time that she met her second husband, Ken. Anne and Ken later moved to Bowen Island, BC, where they enjoyed a blissful retirement. After Ken’s death, Anne returned to Calgary to be closer to her family and led a happy and active life until the progression of her disease prevented her from doing so.

Anne was loving, generous, and selfless. She had a keen wit and a terrific sense of humour, and, as one friend put it, was known to collapse into giggles. She took great joy in her nine grandchildren from two marriages and could be relied on to have a ready stash of homemade cookies on hand for visits. An avid reader, she served as a library volunteer on Bowen and in Calgary. Her love for walking and the outdoors took her as far afield as Nepal, Switzerland, and Italy, and, closer to home, along many trails in the Rockies and around Calgary. She was highly skilled at crafts and the many sweaters and blankets she made for us serve as reminders of her talents and her love.

We will miss her greatly.
