Condolences
Valerie and Peter, we were very sorry to learn just recently of your Mom's passing. She was my Dad's cousin and to us she was Aunt Lil. The first time I met her was when I was a kid visiting Uncle Nick and Aunt Annie in Calgary with my family, she was there. In later years she was always very kind and hospitable, putting us up when we came for the Stampede and also the time Norm had a hospital visit. She and I attended concerts with her friends. They are very nice memories. It was nice of her to attend my Mom and Dads' 50th Anniversary Party as well and she made sure to send gifts to Chris and Barbara when they got married. She took an interest in your family and your life and was always up for going for lunch when we came to town. We will miss her but glad we have some great memories. Love, Nicki and Norm Johnston

Elsie was the most hospitable lady whom I first met in Spring of 1977 during my temporary posting in Winnipeg for a month with the same engineering company that Elsie worked for as an office administrator. Being young and new to the company/ city/country at the time, (mother Elsie, as she was known by coworkers) took interest and guided my everyday life in a very warm, friendly and helpful constructive way. She would expect me to respond to her queries like: how was the breakfast at the hotel...., did you eat well....., what didn't you like ......, where are you planning to go for lunch..., what time you normally eat dinner..., are you happy where you are staying......, do you miss being home...., etc. She had also invited me and other co-workers at sumptuous dinner few times at her place where I met Valerie and Tyler for the first time. Few years later I met Elsie in Calgary working for the same company but I had switched over to another company. Again, Elsie invited me and other former colleagues to meet her parents for the Ukrainian Christmas celebration feast and what an elaborate feast it was......, I can never forget. The most imprinted memories I have of Elsie is when she was greeting visitors with her perpetual smile in her elegant cowgirl outfit at the Palliser hotel during the Stampede days in 1982. May Almighty rest her soul in peace. Thanks for your kind memories Elsie. You were indeed very unique.
Peter and Val:
We are so sorry to see Elsie has passed. She was definitely a lively and generous individual with a great sense of humour. May your memories become blessings.

Valerie,
I remember how lovely and kind your mom was when I occasionally visited your house in high school. I like to listen to Neil Diamond too, and she was such a big fan of his. I always remember you and your mom whenever I hear “Sweet Caroline”. My deepest condolences to you and your family.
Robyn
We have known Elsie dating back to the late 70's when Bill and Elsie worked for the same company for many years. We became fast friends and enjoyed many festive occasions together with her family members.
We will always remember you, Elsie. Rest in peace
