Obituary of Roy Rozema

November 1, 1928 – Middelstum, Holland

January 9, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

With great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, dad, grandfather (Opa/Grandad), great-grandfather, brother and uncle at the amazing age of 95.

Roy immigrated to Canada in 1953 and married the love of his life, Hanny in 1954. He worked on a farm in Rosebud, Alberta, then later with Poole Construction where he worked on the Bearspaw Dam amongst other projects. Later he became an accountant and secured a job with the Government of Canada. He retired in 1992 and enjoyed many years of leisure and travel. Roy also volunteered with the Calgary Food Bank for many years.

Roy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Hanny, of almost 70 years, and his children Derrick (Cheryl), John (Paula), Margaret (Joe), Elaine (Paul), Carol (Cor); grandchildren, Amber (Adam), Matthew (Julia), James (Corrine), Kyle (Novak), Andrea (Kyle), Jason, Kristen, Ryan (Jenn), Lyndsey (Shaun), Kim (Brad), Zac, and Kelsey; and great-grandchildren, Arabella, Addison, Erik, Malcolm, Cohen, Micah, Skyla, Summer, Carson, Karace, Annika, Haizel, Lucas, Cooper.

Roy is also survived by two sisters in the Netherlands plus numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, USA, and Europe.
