Obituary of Phyllis Anne Wardle

Phyllis Wardle, beloved wife of Robert Wardle, of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the age of 89 years.

 

Phyllis was born in Red Deer, AB, on May 29, 1934. She moved to Brooks, AB, to begin her Nursing Career where she met her husband, Robert.

 

Phyllis graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Nursing with honors and Valedictorian Class of 1955, followed up with a Postgraduate in Neurology. She continued her Nursing Career in five different communities in Alberta before making Cochrane, AB, her home in 1981.

 

She was an active member of the Cochrane community and volunteered with many organizations.

 

Phyllis had a passion for painting, which she discovered in her late sixties, and was a fixture at Final Touch Art Studio every Tuesday morning.

 

Phyllis’ favourite saying was “Behave or I will get the big stick with the nail in it”.

 

Besides her husband, Phyllis is survived by her daughter Jerrill of Cochrane, and son Kelly (Kristy) of Calgary; five grandchildren, Matt (Sara), Andy (Alanna), Mackenzie (Liz), Jackson (Emma), and Richelle (Cody); and four great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Adeline, Madelyn, and Logan. Phyllis is also survived by her sister Dr. Jody Wright of Vancouver, BC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

She valued family and there was no better mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a true force of nature.

 

As per Phyllis’ wishes, a private service will be held. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Phyllis’ family here.
