January 21, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Elizabeth “Betty” Bryant, beloved wife of the late William “Bill” P.G. Bryant, of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the age of 92 years.

Betty was born in Weyburn, SK, on February 24, 1931, and after having five children, married her soul mate William P.G. Bryant on November 27, 1971.

Special events in her life include the birth of her five children, getting married to the love of her life at 40 years old, and their ultimate adoption of Dean, Mark, and Craig, with Bruce and Vicki making the choice as adults to change their last name to Bryant.

They moved to the wonderful “Shambles”, where they spent 27 years. Many great memories were created there, including all the great summer and Halloween parties.

She was also very proud of her career while working at the British Columbia Penitentiary, until it was decommissioned in 1980. She was then moved to the Correctional Service of Canada Regional Headquarters in Abbotsford, BC, until her retirement, altogether she spent seventeen years in Correctional Service.

Betty had a passion for dancing. In her later years, she would get up and dance while holding onto her walker. She just could not help herself as she loved to dance so much.

She will be most remembered for her vibrant, outgoing personality.

She is survived by daughter Vicki Wannop of Cochrane, AB; and her four sons, Bruce Bryant and his wife Sandi of Lethbridge, AB, Dean Bryant of Rosalind, AB, Mark Bryant of Coquitlam BC, and Craig Bryant and his wife Janet of Kerrobert, SK. Granny GG, as she was affectionally called, is also survived by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

As per Betty’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A celebration of her life will occur at a later date.

Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Betty’s family here.
