Condolences
Ellen, it has been many years since we worked and socialized together, Jim and I were shocked to just learn your beloved Bill has passed away. Our sincerest condolences on the loss to you and your family. May you draw comfort from your daughters and grandchildren. So so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. He was a wonderful husband and father and friend to many. He will be missed by many.
Hi Ellen. Not sure if you're still seeing these notices but I only just heard of Bill's passing. As you likely remember, Bill & I were close friends from our mid-teens to late-20s before life began taking us in different directions. Formative years indeed. I always admired his good humour and his logical reasoning, plus the fact that he was often enough up for a bit of adventure. And I appreciated how you two put me up fora couple of days in 1987 when I was taking the train across Canada.
I can't presume to speak to speak for others but from the friends crowd back in the day, I know his memory will be also cherished by Linda B, Jim W, Ron & Ann K, Don E, Kristin H, & John C.

I was so devastated to hear of Bill's sudden passing after running into his beloved eldest daughter, Katie, the Sunday before and hearing that both he and the love of his life, Ellen, were having a great time at their beautiful home in La Quinta, where they hosted me and my family one more than one occasion, all of which were wonderful. Bill and I were office neighbors at Boardwalk for 16 years from 2004 to 2020 that seemed to fly by way too quickly. During that time, not all of which was a bowl of cherries, he was a mentor, true friend and example to me and everyone else at Head Office of how to conduct oneself as a professional. Along with Barry Emes, who Bill knew well from his Trizec days, Bill was the most intelligent person I can ever remember meeting, and I learned so much from him about the real estate business and, more importantly, how to build and sustain lasting professional and personal relationships. No matter how crazy things got at work, Bill always kept his cool and was the voice of reason. Having seen it first hand, I can say quite easily that Boardwalk's success during his time there and since he left would not have been possible without his wisdom and effort. As a parent of 2 teenage daughters born while working at Boardwalk, Bill set the best example for me on how a father should act. I can say without hesitation that I learned more about decency from Bill Chidley than from any other person I've even known. Good bye dear friend, God Bless you and the wonderful ladies you leave behind. I will miss you and your infectious laughter. Dean Burns
