Obituary of William Glenn Chidley

September 26, 1951 – January 23, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of William “Bill” Chidley on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the age of 72 years, at his winter home in La Quinta, California.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Ellen, daughters, Katie (Chris) and Jennie (Kevin); and granddaughters, Sophie, Chloe, Poppy, and Cali. He will also be missed by his sisters Wendy (Peter) and Cathy (Mel).

Bill was born in Montreal and grew up in Mississauga. He completed his law degree at the University of Toronto and his MBA at the University of Western Ontario, where he met Ellen, his lifelong partner and love. They moved to Calgary in 1984.

Bill was successful in his business pursuits. He had a fulfilling career at Boardwalk where he was instrumental in the company’s formative years, until his retirement in 2016.

A loving and proud father, his children looked up to him as a role model. Bill adored his grandkids, filling their lives with laughter, hugs, and countless adventures – he delighted in spending time with them.

Bill was generous, thoughtful, and a man of integrity. He loved golf and maintained a keen interest in geopolitics and current events. We are devastated by his untimely passing but grateful for the time we had together.
