Obituary of Charlotte Anne McCaffery

August 5, 1936 – Calgary, Alberta

February 1, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Charlotte McCaffery (nee Campbell), beloved wife of the late Dennis McCaffery, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the age of 87 years.

Charlotte was born on August 5, 1936, in Calgary, AB, to Laughlin Francis “Frank” and Marjorie “Marjie” Campbell. Charlotte was the third of three sisters, Gwen Smith and Betty Rosamond.

Charlotte was raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. After graduating high school and completing her Cosmetology School Certification, she moved to Calgary, where she established herself as a successful hairdresser. Charlotte married the love of her life, Dennis McCaffery, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in 1962, after an extended courtship during Dennis’ college and Law School years in Oklahoma.

Charlotte was a gifted athlete, excelling in many sports including skiing, curling, bowling, and both figure and speed skating. Charlotte enjoyed her time skiing with friends in Banff in her younger years, and always loved music and dancing. She was the life of every party, many of which she hosted.

Charlotte was a devout Catholic and caretaker to all friends and family in need. She cherished her role as a wife, mom, and grandma, supporting her family in all their endeavors, and cheering on her kids and grandkids in their sports and activities. Charlotte treasured her summers with family and friends at the lake house in Oklahoma, rooting on the Oklahoma Sooners with Dennis, and travelling around the world with family and friends.

Charlotte will be remembered for her infectious laugh, beautiful smile, kindness, compassion, and good nature. To know Charlotte was to love Charlotte; she never met a stranger. She was the love of Dennis’ life, her husband of 60 plus years, and the heart and soul of her entire family.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Duncan Parks; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Cheryl, James and Amy; and four grandchildren, Anne, Joseph, Abigail, and Julia. Charlotte is also survived by her nieces and nephew, Garth Rosamond, and brother-in-law Terrence McCaffery and Karen, and loving extended family.
