Condolences
Condolences to you, Mary ("Me-Me as I recall from about 65 years ago!) and your family, from my wife, Carrie, and me.
Lawrence Siemens
I was deeply saddened to hear about Tom's recent passing.
Although I didn't know Tom personally, we spent many hours working together on the acquisition of various components for Nova Gas Transmission's Alberta system.
In 2001, I lost touch with Tom when I decided to pursue a career in ministry. Coincidentally, I ended up serving a parish not far from Killam, the town where Tom grew up. In fact, I pass through Killam many times each year as I travel to lead Sunday morning worship.
My deepest sympathies go out to Tom's family.
My heartfelt sympathy and condolence to the Slimmon family. Tom has been an esteemed colleague and well-respected material expert for TC Energy and the pipeline industry as a whole. His work ethics, professionalism, and dedication are a lasting inspiration for many. His contributions to CSA standard development over many decades are extraordinary. Tom will be missed as a colleague, friend and industry icon.

Tom was a great friend, and mentor for me over the years. When I came into industry, he took me under his wing and was instrumental in showing me the lay of the land between customer and vendor. I enjoyed some great business trips with Tom and one of my fond memories has always been his commitment to being on time and keeping a schedule!!! (right down to the minute!!) We loved the lunches of Dim Sum at the Regency!! They always had table 51 ready for him and it was "Mr.Tom"!! (HaHa) Despite the difference in our years, we had a strong friendship. I will miss my friend a great deal. I have always said and will continue to say...What an incredible Man, and awesome friend!!
No words can describe such a great man, friend, colleague, or professional. I was very fortunate to have spent as much time as I did with Tom. We covered many conversations and shared a lot of memories. My wife and I had the pleasure of knowing Tom at a personal level. We are confident he is in Heaven and want to offer our sincere condolences to Tom's entire family specifically Mary.
Warmest prayers and regards,
Gabe, Ivy and the entire Nahas family.
Mary, I was very saddened to hear of the loss of your husband, Tom. My deepest sympathies to you and the family.
My heartfelt sympathy to the Slimmon family.
Tom has been and still is an inspiration pushing our company Canadoil Forge to be better and ahead of the fitting industry.
Beside his ethic and professionalism, Tom is a dear friend.
Our relationship goes back to the Nova days in the 90's.
I remember the old days where we use to eat filet of perch at the restaurant l'Accueil near our factory in Becancour,Quebec.
He made sure to bring back his curd cheese to his wife from the factory nearby everytime he was visiting us.
We will be missing you Tom.

I extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family. The loss of a parent definitely leaves a void, but may you find comfort in the cherished moments you shared together, and may his memory bring you peace.

My heart breaks with sadness for the loss of a friend and mentor. Tom was always kind to me and generous with his time. May his family’s sorrow receive the balm of knowing how many of us cherished his friendship.
I had the pleasure of working with Tom at Nova, TransCanada and Alliance Pipeline. He was an inspiration to me and always was there to support whatever projects we worked on. He was also very well respected with colleges and the supplier community on his knowledge and unique skills. Tom you'll be missed and may you Rest in Peace my friend.

I was lucky enough to have Tom as a colleague for many years, both within the companies that we both worked for and in the Canadian Standards activities that were such a large part of his career. He was a shining example of what a “thinking” engineer ought to be, and his encyclopedic knowledge of materials standards was legendary. I still remember quite vividly the pride we felt in Victoria in 2003 on the occasion of his receiving CSA’s most prestigious recognition, the John Jenkins Award. He will be sadly missed both as a friend and as an irreplaceable technical resource. Condolences to Mary and all the family.

Three words come to mind when remembering Tom and his work in the pipeline industry. Calm, competent, and confident. He had an outstanding career focussed on the enhancement of pipeline safety by improving piping material standards and quality assurance practices. We are all most grateful for his dedication and contribution to making our world a better and safer place.
Good memories of a good guy!!
Mary and Steve and Slimmon’s family,
In loving memory of Tom, a remarkable colleague and dear friend whom I had the privilege of knowing since my days at TransCanada in 2010. Despite Tom was working only three days a week, Tom's dedication and expertise were ever-present. His encyclopedic knowledge of CSA standards and specifications was legendary, always ready with precise advice and background information long after his retirement. Mary's playful remark about his 'selective memory' only added to his charm. Over the years, our professional relationship blossomed into a cherished friendship. Tom would often reach out for coffee or lunch downtown, sometimes accompanied by Mary, sometimes on his own, sharing stories and laughter. I'll never forget the day he entrusted me with given his entire series of ASM standards to me, a gesture that spoke volumes about our bond. Tom's legacy of knowledge, kindness, and camaraderie will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
I apologize I could not say final goodbye to Tom since I am out of town for next a few day. I believe he will welcome me in heaven one day.
Rest in peace Tom!

My sincere condolences to the Slimmon family.
I had the pleasure of working with Tom when I first joined TransCanada in 2013 - he was my mentor for the next two years of my career. I could not have been more pleased to have Tom as a patient and thorough mentor. When faced with challenging engineering issues I would think to myself, "what would, Tom, do?" - it would often help me to stay calm, brainstorm ideas on paper and methodologically work out the problem.
I got to experience traveling with Tom as well and learn not only about engineering material (fittings) but also about the Amazing Race TV show - which I am also now a big viewer of and often think of him while watching the show. He also brought me to some very good cheese shops in our work trips in Quebec - he knew of some good shops! I always felt respected by, Tom, regardless of where I was in my career or my age - he treated me as an equal.
I will miss hearing about his next travel adventures. He had so many that it was sometimes hard to keep up to where he was.
May he rest in peace knowing that he has impacted so many people's lives in a wonderful way.
I first met Tom in 1987, he was a veteran pipeline engineer, me just starting my career and not an engineer yet, but Tom inspired me to be and I am because of him. Over the years and through multitudes of corporate adjustments for both him and I, many a “Dim Sum” lunch (one of Tom's favorites) and countless CSA Committee Meetings and social dinners and interactions resulting from those, I came to know not only an astute professional and mentor, but also a kind, considerate and supportive friend that could only be described as a blessing in this life.
Through unimaginable tragedy Tom’s generous spirit endured and his pride in his family and his ability to articulate his fondness of life just by his mannerisms never faltered. In my visits with Tom, at the care centre these past months he continued to delight with his trademark sense of humour and good spirits. Just a completely, decent, kind and gentle man rightfully admired and looked up to by so many not by how he said it or did it, but just by what he was.
My sincerest condolences to Mary and family on this loss. Tom’s presence was a blessing to the many his path touched and he will be remembered with fondness always.

I worked with Tom when I was a young in Engineer in Training and as an Engineer at Nova Gas. He was always very approachable and knowledgeable and I learned a lot from him especially his critical approach and professionalism; not withstanding his technical expertise in Metallurgical and Mechanics of Materials in Engineering. My deepest condolences to the Slimmon Family, friends and colleagues.
Regards, Thor Solberg
Steve and family, we extend our heartfelt sympathies on the passing of your dad. May you find strength and comfort in the cherished memories you shared together. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
My sincere condolences to the Slimmon family.
I had the pleasure of working with Tom for the first time in 1993, when I asked him to consider writing a paper on Valves and Fittings, a topic in which he certainly knew his stuff! He obliged of course! The result was well written, thoughtful, and thorough., Hallmarks of the professionalism, I saw in the years that have followed. Tom was generous with his time helping others, and very patient with those of us who needed handholding. He was of immense help to me, and the Company, in leading a group tasked with improving Supplier Performance. He had a quiet affability, worked very well across cultures, and I learned a lot from him, not only about pipeline materials, but also the importance and effectiveness of being a good listener and an astute observer.
Tom was a good family man and he loved sharing what they were up to, may he rest in peace.
