Obituary of David John Hood

November 2, 1949 – Vancouver, British Columbia

February 3, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

David Hood, beloved husband of Caleen Hood, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the age of 74 years.

Besides his loving wife Caleen, David is survived by his daughter, Kimberley LaPlante, sister, Sheila Hood Jensen (Peter), sister-in-law, Donna Sullivan (Lloyd), mother-in-law, Marjorie Brown, his four stepchildren, and three step-grandchildren.

David was predeceased by his parents, William Kirkwood Hood and Zoe Hood; sisters, Doreen Hood and Margaret Hood; and his father-in-law, George Brown.

As we say our loving good-byes to David, we are comforted in the legacy of a kind and generous man. who journeyed well through life, and never lost sight of God's loving guidance.

Dave had Multiple Sclerosis, but that was not who he was. He was a man of faith, integrity, and a cheerful countenance. He lived life with a bright mind, an inviting warmth, and a hearty, contagious laugh. David's positive outlook, generous spirit, and strength of character continued to define him, even after his powerful singing voice was silenced long after he was unable to work in the airline industry and property management.

David's friendships were long-lasting, rich in substance, and reached back into his boyhood. He loved photography, travel, good food, and singing gospel music in church with the Berg Chorale, as well as solo performances. He had a heart that saw to the needs of others. He stayed close to God.

His favorite Bible verse was Titus 2:13 which says, “Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ”.

That blessed hope of being present with the Lord has now come for David.

At his request, no memorial service is planned.
