Obituary of Bruce Robert Isted

Bruce Isted, beloved husband of Debbi Isted, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the age of 65 years.

Bruce was born in Regina, SK, on May 21, 1958, to Bob and Eileen Isted. He lived in various locations across Canada with his family before ultimately settling in sunny California as an adult. He married the love of his life, Debbi, in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1992.

Bruce graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 1998. He proudly worked with the family company, Madis Engineering, for his entire life, while simultaneously pursuing a career in the United States as a software engineer, specializing in firmware and low-level systems programming.

Bruce accomplished much throughout his professional life, but was most proud of his family, with whom he was particularly close. He enjoyed a wide variety of activities, ranging from ultimate frisbee, to softball, to Trivia Tuesdays at the local brewery. Much to his brothers’ chagrin, Bruce passionately loathed golfing!

He also enjoyed spending quieter days at home, curled up on the couch with a Terry Pratchett or Douglas Adams novel, pondering the meaning of life, the universe, and everything else. Bruce could always be found listening to one of his many favourite bands, ranging from the Beatles or Roxy Music to the Talking Heads or Tragically Hip - just to name a few!

Bruce will be most remembered for his dedication to his family, his gentle and sincere manner, and especially for his very dry sense of humour, which often elicited a chorus of groans from anyone within earshot.

Bruce will be dearly missed by several generations of his family, including his parents, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters, his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Bruce’s family would be honoured to have your cherished memories, photos, and messages shared here for everyone to remember him by.
