Obituary of Arlene Anne MacIndoe

July 7, 1941 – Regina, Saskatchewan

February 21, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Arlene MacIndoe (nee Kolybaba/Colliby), beloved wife of the late David Irvine MacIndoe, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the age of 82 years.

 

Arlene was born in Regina, SK. During World War II, while her mother supported the war effort, Arlene was raised by her grandmother, who was very influential on Arlene. After the war, she moved to British Columbia with her mother.

 

As a young woman, Arlene worked at a movie theatre while she attended night school to become a medical office assistant, and later worked in a medical office in the Vancouver area.

 

Arlene met her husband David while residing in Vancouver and they were married in 1973.

 

Arlene had a passion for writing and enjoyed art and reading.

 

One of Arlene’s favorite places was Hawaii and she traveled there several times as a young woman. Her most memorable vacation was when she was able to return to Hawaii with her husband, sharing that experience with him.

 

Arlene is survived by her daughter Mary and son-in-law Craig, of Calgary, AB, and her grandsons, Connor, Joshua, and Logan.

 

Arlene is also survived by her brother Roger, sisters, Brenda and Cindi; nephew Christopher (Amy), nieces Jessica (Paul) and Heidi (TJ); brother-in-law Mark, sister-in-law Nichole, her niece Kirsten (James), and great-nephew William, all who reside in BC.

 

Arlene was predeceased by her husband David, and twin grandsons, Matthew and Aidan.

 

As per Arlene’s wishes, a memorial service will not be held.
