Condolences
I first met Ray in 1975 in Edmonton. He was this blond kid with a Beetles hair cut from the purchasing dept. My staff took great joy in harassing him, in good nature way, for being a Leaf fan and how intense he worked to find purchase orders. Over the years at Imperial, we crossed paths many times and eventually he joined my staff in Red Deer. My staff in Red Deer also took great joy in watching him rock in his chair, always fretting over some minor issue. Ray always worried about something, because that was Ray. Ray was really good at what he did. He was always on top of everything. I just left Ray alone, because I knew he was a self starter and would take care of things.
In addition to the Leafs (and Oilers), his other passions were golf and being a grandfather.
We both retired in 2006 and kept in regular touch. I appreciated that Ray and Margaret attending my 50th wedding anniversary celebration in 2022.
I am so so sad. Ray was a great guy and I'll miss him greatly.
Rest in peace my friend!

My deepest condolences to Ray's family and friends. My golf colleagues and I played regularly for several years with Ray, and I cannot think of a finer golf mate that I've played with. Ray was upbeat and a player of integrity, not to mention a very good player indeed. We were stunned as he informed us of his diagnosis, but the bright spirit that he carried forward with him in his fight with the awful disease was amazing and inspirational to me. I miss him.

My sincere condolences to the Laurie family. Ray was a wonderful man and a great friend. I have many fond memories of our times working together and he was the guy who could make me laugh so hard I would end up in tears. He loved his family and spoke of you often. Keep the memories close in your heart. Rest in peace Ray!
Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of Ray. He was one of my regular weekly golfing buddies at McKenzie Meadows and he will truly be missed. He was a first class person and a good friend. Our weekly golf dates will seem empty without him. Rest in Peace my friend. Jim Conroy
