Condolences
I have many fond memories of Mary Beth (that’s the name I remember her by). She was always full of energy and ready to try something new. My father often took us to visit Mary Beth. There were always interesting discussions. I remember hiking in Los Troncos Woods, helping clean up her classroom after summer school, giving her a ride some place and listening to her stories. I am sorry to hear of her passing. She has touched so many lives including mine. I am glad to have known her.
First of all my deepest deepest sympathy. I met Mary a couple of years ago on my lunch hour at Olympic Plaza. She was sitting in a tall chair by the Famous Five. She touched my heart. I was just talking a stroll and bam there she was. She looked beautiful and I just had to tell her that. She smiled and asked if I had time to chat. I said of course I would love that. We sat and she talked and I listened. She asked if I would sign her book and I said I would be more than happy to sign her book. I wish I had time to hear about all the people in her book. There was a feather on the ground and she told me what it meant. I’ll never forget that and every time I see a feather on the ground a smile comes to my face and I think about her and how she came into my life. What a beautiful role model and I’m jealous I wasn’t one of her students. It saddens me to hear of your loss but I will always remember her and she will hold a special place in my heart. One day I will do as she did and sit in the park and meet people.
