Obituary of Darrell Wayne Collins

Darrell Collins of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the age of 67 years.

Darrell was born in Pilot Mound, MB, on May 2, 1956, and he moved to Calgary in 1984. He married Sabina Schilling in 1981. Darrell accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of his seven grandchildren.

He had a passion for outdoor activities, such as scuba diving, fishing, hunting, and woodworking and took pride in his cars and motorcycles. Later in life, his favourite pastimes were volunteering at Telus Spark and Garrison Green Gift Shop, and he was well known for his humour and witty anecdotes.

Darrell’s favourite saying was, “Keep your powder dry!” or “Noses are for running, and feet are for smelling!” He also had a clever nickname for anyone he cared about. He will be most remembered for unbelievable true stories ranging from life on the farm growing up to adventures as an adult.

Darrell is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Christal and François; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joshua Collins and Michelle Landry, and Kyle Collins and Kayla Rance; and seven grandchildren, Aurélia, Bodhi, Tielle, Charlie, Hudson, Jackson, and Stella, who all reside in Calgary.

Darrell is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Ron Collins and Deanna Brady; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Darrell was predeceased by his parents, Dwight and Pearl Collins; and his brother David Collins.

As per Darrell’s wishes a private service was held on Friday, April 5, 2024. Instead of a memorial tribute, Darrell would appreciate you having a nice meal out with your family and building memories together.
