Obituary of Sandra Lynn Ubiera

October 18, 1959 – Red Deer, Alberta

April 3, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sandra “Sandy” Ubiera, of Calgary, AB, on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the age of 64 years.

Sandy was born in Red Deer and moved with her family to Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Fernie, and Coleman. After graduating from Crowsnest Consolidated High School, Sandy moved to Calgary and began a 25-year career in administration with Safeway Canada. She later moved on to Imperial Oil, where she worked as an administration professional in both Calgary and Fort McMurray, until her retirement at the end of 2022.

Sandy was passionate and vocal about the things she believed in and would never back down from a good debate. She had an infectious laugh and loved to have fun, especially with her family. In the summer, she would often be found on the golf course with her son, niece, and nephews, playing the game she had fallen in love with since her retirement. Sandy was fiercely loyal to her family and would not hesitate to help in any way possible.

Sandy was so loved. She will be missed deeply by her son Michael Ubiera (Emma), siblings, Don Wensrich (Pam), Susan Olson, and Mark Wensrich; as well as nieces, Lisa Olson and Heather Wensrich; and nephews, Nick Wensrich and Daniel Wensrich. She was predeceased by her parents, Bob and Ruth Wensrich.

Friends and family will be invited to a Celebration of Sandy's Life, which will be held at a later date.

Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Sandy’s family here.
