Condolences
Godspeed Gil. It was too brief but it was a great pleasure having worked with you at the dealership. Prolly redundant to acknowledge, to those here, but Gil’s outsize presence lit up any room he was in…
From the team at Schneider Electric. We are incredibly saddened to hear about your loss. Please know the whole team is thinking of you and the whole family. Love Eric.
"Eh'll tak a dozen pairs oh thay Smokies"
Smokies-fish delicacy from Arbroath. My dear Uncle Bert, generous as ever, thinking he was feeding the whole street! 24 fillets of fish to be deboned! Oh, and the night Bert and Da, well oiled (80 Shilling well oiled!) demolished a huge whole cooked salmon. Like a couple of grizzly bears! Don't really want to believe that he's not here. So many memories to cherish, enveloped in laughter, love and affection. One of the good guys. A true "gentle" man, with a rough cowboy edginess. We may have been distant through the miles of separation. But always, always close to my heart, soul and spirit. Love you Uncle Bert - Have a wee whiskey Mac waiting for me. Until we meet again. Wee Kathleen. Give my Mum a huge hug, please XXX
So sorry to hear of the loss of your wonderful husband Veronica, and father to two amazing boys. I was pleased to have met Bert in Calgary over one night, and again in Dundee, Scotland one year later unexpectantly. It was a pleasure to meet him. RIP Bert. Love from Gloria in Australia
I didn't know Gil long, or even well, but he touched my heart in such a way, he was most certainly a kindred spirit. I met him at the MEOW Foundation, where I worked briefly. When I left, I was most upset that I didn't get to say goodbye to Gil. So I found him on Facebook and we kept in touch. I am so tremendously heart broken for Gil's family, and the world. A loss of this magnitude will be felt across many hearts. May you Rest in Peace my friend.
We were so sorry to hear about Bert. When our Jenny visited Calgary you both made her very welcome and she enjoyed herself very much. Thinking of you all. Our sincere condolences.
Audrey, Sandy and Family.

Only knew Gil and short couple of years but what a gem. You will be forever remembered at every rodeo the rest of my life. Couldn't have ever asked for a better wingman.
So friendly, kind and welcoming. Generous and full of heart. You will be missed cowboy.
Fond memories of Bertie from school in Dundee to many nights out, parties, weddings (yours and ours) and a holiday in Blackpool.
You and Veronica visited Ian and I when you were last in Dundee and it was brilliant; just like old times - like you'd never been away! Dundee's loss has been Canada's gain. Sadly missed.
Gloria
Condolences to Veronica and family at this sad time.
However, I'm sure you will all celebrate Bert's life in style as he would expect, once the tears have dried. As young men we shared a great few years in Dundee and were true friends even when separated by 3500 miles. Some memories made with or by Bert are legend among friends here and often recalled over a beer or two but better not mentioned here! RIP big man. Your Mate, Ian McIntyre.
Sincere condolences from all of us ex Timexers. Dave Clement Ian Mcintyre Dave Boag Alex Lawson Derek Winter Brian Smith Bill Thompson Alex Geddes Brian Peggie.
Bert was my friend since I met him in school in Dundee in 1966. A friend for life. My wife Yvonne first met Bert & Veronica during a visit to Scotland a few years ago. Felt like she had known them forever. The road and the miles tae Bonnie Dundee are no distance when it comes to friendship. You will always be in our hearts Bert. Gordon & Yvonne Drummond
My condolences to all the family. Gil was a wonderful guy. I had the pleasure of working with him and becoming good friends outside of work. He was always so happy and took great pleasure in everything he did. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered. Love to you all Karen Murray xx
So much to say about Gil but what a gentleman he was. So kind, caring, loving guy he was. He loved all his family and friends so much would do anything for them. We had the pleasure again of coming over to Canada just 16 weeks ago and again made memories that we will treasure forever. I can hear Veronica shouting as Gil was taking us shopping "Dont buy any more shirts", he loved his cowboy boots, hats and shirts. He did not buy anything that time :-) We all enjoyed a loving family meal that Erin had made and unfortunately the last photo that we have of them all as a family. So many funny stories we could go on forever. He will be missed by all that were lucky enough to cross paths with him. A gentle soul who had a massive caring nature for his lovely dogs who we know are missing him already. Sleep tight Gil, you were truly one in a million. Thinking of you all at this sad sad time. We will be celebrating his life on Monday 17th and will be raising a glass in memory of one of lifes legends xx
