Condolences
That is sad news, Bob and I worked together at the City of Calgary in Weed Control from 1976-1980. Bob was a handsome man, he was quick to laugh and we had a great time working together. He loved his turquoise rings/jewelry, loved Mexico where he would go during the winter breaks as he only worked seasonally then. I am not surprised to see the kind words that he was such a caring man for his lifetime as that was my memory of him. It was nice of the family to pick a picture of Bob as a young man as his obituary picture, he would have been pleased that you did that. That is how I remember him too. My condolences to the family for your loss of Bob.
I dated Bob for a while back in the early 2000s he was very kind to me and my son. He was extremely proud of his garden and the inside of his house was filled with plants and lots of sitting room. It was so comfortable ,he had such a beautiful home when you are inside his home it didn't feel like you were inside the city it felt like you were out somewhere in the country.
He took me to Banff for my birthday and we spent the weekend there.
He taught my son who was about 9 years old how to tend the garden and how to take care of the plants.
Thank you Bob we always spent a short time together but I did enjoy our time bless you and rest in peace my dear friend love Debbie
I moved to Calgary 6.5 year ago and met Bob shortly after when I was walking my dogs. He always made sure to let me know he was around if I ever needed anything, and watched to make sure I made it safely to my car or into the house when I’d be leaving early for my shifts or coming home. He always dug up potatoes or picked tomatoes from his garden for me, and I like to think we shared custody of the squirrels. But he did love ALL animals. He was a very kind man who was always willing to help anyone out who needed it. I loved talking to him and hearing his stories. His yard was like a little fairy garden and he was so proud to show people through it. The neighbourhood does not feel the same without him here. My condolences to all of the family.
Matt and Jim,
It was great meeting you and I am very sorry for your loss. I only knew Bob for eight months, I met him when I moved into the neighborhood. He came out of the house to greet me and my dog Max. He had dog treats for Max and was very kind to me. Bob loved to show everyone his plants and garden, He had the best tomatoes. Bob faithfully everyday in the summer went out and picked up the pinecones and swept the needles off of the sidewalk. He fed the birds and the squirrels, He had a love for nature. I felt safer with Bob living next door, He was always keeping a watch over the neighborhood. He seemed to know everyone around telling me about them and their dogs. He would make Max do tricks for his dog treats and Max would do it. Bob would say "Sit Pretty" and Max would do it for him. Bob called him his beautiful boy and would tell him how he loved him. Thank you Bob for being you, you will be greatly missed. The community has lost a valued member. Rest in Peace Bob.
