Condolences
I worked alongside Tony in CSIS. He was a great guy and once gave me some confidential information, related to my job, which prepared me. He did not need to do this other than doing what he thought was right. He was a quiet guy who got the job done. I liked him very much.
I am so sorry for your loss Andrea, James, Charlene, Eric, Cameron and Paige. My condolences to your entire family. I remember how much your dad loved you both and I know he would have done anything for you. He was always singing your praises and remarking about how proud he was of your accomplishments in life. He was a great storyteller and he loved to follow the news and current events. He was also a wonderful listener, especially at parties and gatherings. He would enjoy hearing other people share their stories. This probably stemmed from his training as an intelligence officer. Your dad was an amazing person and I know you will miss him. I hope that all the wonderful memories and great times you had with your dad will give you strength and comfort at this sad time. Thinking of you and sending much love. Jane
I remember when I used to go and visit Gido when I was younger, and he would always have baked so many sweets and would eat alot of sweets with me. My mom would always get annoyed at him because he was not suposed to eat that kind of thing, but he would still make and eat them and he would share with me. My mom told me when I was around 2 I'd wake up and ask for cookies and he would try to give me some even though it was 6am. My mom would not be happy about this as I had not even eaten breakfast yet. I miss you Gido. I hope you are dancing with Laura in the after life. lots of love.
One of my favourite memories of dad (and I shared this at his goodbye dinner) was one week-end we were on our way home from one of our trips to the cheese factory in St Albert and we stopped in at a take-away chip place. Dad loved poutine so he went up to the counter and asked for 3 poutan (dad had a bit of an accent and mispronounced poutine). The guy behind the counter snickered a little and when dad looked confused he told him. "Just so you know for next time, it's pronounced poutine, you just ordered 3 prostitutes." Dad was pretty conservative around us so he went a bit red while Andrea and I tried not to let him see how hard we were laughing. I smile anytime anyone orders poutine now.
I remember many years after our mom passed away, dad started dating again. He liked to be be silly when he was in a good mood and many times before he'd be going out on a date he would come into the basement family room where Andrea and I were hanging out, dressed up nice and smelling like cologne, and he would put on music and dance a silly strutting dance to show off how nice he looked. Made me laugh every single time.
