September 18, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Tony Kereliuk, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the age of 81.

Tony was born in Sundown, MB, on March 10, 1943. After grade eleven, he worked for INCO mines before completing high school and joining the RCMP in 1963, where he served for over twenty-one years. In 1984, he joined CSIS, where he worked for another eight years. He received numerous awards, most notably one for his contribution to handling the Persian Gulf Crisis.

Tony married Laura Secord Woolley on June 27, 1970. They had a foster daughter, April, and then adopted twin girls, Charlene and Andrea, on February 2, 1976. Sadly, Laura passed away on June 16, 1984. Tony lived with his daughters in Ottawa, ON, then moved to Chilliwack, BC, in 1994 and Calgary, AB, in 2016.

Tony was an excellent cook and loved to draw. Some of the family’s favourite memories were of weekends spent at the cottage in Quebec, taking walks together, and trips to the cheese factory and u-pick fruit farms. Tony’s most memorable holiday was when Andrea took him on a three-week European adventure to France, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Turkey.

“Gido” Tony was a wonderful father and loving grandfather. He is remembered by his daughters Charlene, Andrea, and April, his son-in-law Eric, and his grandchildren Cameron, Paige, and James.
Tony is also remembered by his sisters Margaret, Elizabeth, Marian, and Theresa, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Tony was predeceased by his loving wife Laura, his sister Irene, and his brothers Paul, Mike, and Philip.

Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Tony’s family here.
