Celebration of Life
Obituary of Gavin Ferguson Wigle
July 13, 1972 – Toronto, Ontario
October 13, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sadness and shock that we announce the passing of Gavin Wigle who left us suddenly on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the age of 52.
Gavin was born on July 13, 1972, in Toronto, ON, and later moved to Calgary where he attended the Universities of Lethbridge and Calgary, graduating with a degree in Political Science.
Gavin dedicated over twenty years of his life to his work at Canada Post. He loved “walking his route” and saying hi to everyone he met. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with friends lifting a pint and debating the issues of the day. One of Gavin's greatest passions was following the Toronto Blue Jays, and he never missed a game no matter where they were in the standings.
Gavin will be lovingly remembered by his father Paul, his sisters, Kathleen (Jim), Joyce, and Roberta (Ian) Craig, and his nephews Matt, and Cam Joyce. His best bud, the love of his life, Michelle Bodnar will continue to love and remember him. Gavin was predeceased by his mother, Rita Wigle, who he respected and loved dearly.
Gavin will be most remembered for his huge smile and laugh, his sharp wit, and his kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
A Celebration of Gavin’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Following the Celebration of Life friends and family are welcome to join us for a few pints and appetizers at Gavin’s favourite watering hole.
