Obituary of Gerald "Gerry" Edwards
August 20, 1932 – Pleasantdale, Saskatchewan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gerry Edwards, aged 92, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Born on August 20, 1932, in Pleasantdale, SK, Gerry lived a life filled with professional success, personal strength, and an unwavering love for his family.
Gerry is survived by his beloved wife; Marg, and his children; Terry (Debbie), Gary (Cheryl), Cheryl (Jim), and his grandchildren; Theresa, Shawn (Rhonda), Angela (Joshua), Stephen, Jennifer (Matt), Jaclyn (Jeff), Kimberley (Greg), and his great-grandchildren; Gabriel, Nomi, Alaira, Oliver; and a circle of dear friends. His legacy as a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather and great-grandfather, who found joy in their accomplishments and lives, will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Gerry had an impressive 42-year career with CIBC, where he began humbly and worked his way up to the position of Vice President of Corporate Banking, Saskatchewan by the time of his retirement. He was a respected mentor and advisor, leaving a profound impact on the countless lives he touched throughout his career. While working at CIBC in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Gerry had the good fortune of meeting the love of his life, Marg. Theirs was a partnership that lasted for 67 beautiful years, a bond that remained a cornerstone of his happiness.
In retirement, Gerry and Marg spent many happy years in Apache Wells, Mesa, where they enjoyed the warm desert sun and the company of close friends. Avid golfers, Gerry and Marg spent countless hours on the course, relishing both the game and the friendships it brought.
In his later years, Gerry demonstrated incredible strength and resilience as he bravely faced a long battle with cancer. His unwavering spirit and courage inspired all who knew him, and even in his most challenging moments, his kindness and sense of humour never wavered.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Gerry's life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Foothills Country Hospice, supporting end-of-life care in Gerry Edwards' honour.
Rest in peace, Gerry. Your love, strength, and legacy will remain with us always. May you find eternal sunshine and endless fairways.
