Diane Telmer

Obituary of Diane Gertrude Telmer

July 8, 1941 – Edmonton, Alberta

November 12, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta,

Faith turned to sight on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, as Diane entered the Presence of her faithful God.

She will be forever remembered for her beautiful faith and her gritty fight. In a body racked by MS for 45 years, many would have been deterred, but she lived her life to the fullest and then some. She could always find a reason for a party and as soon as one ended, she would be planning for the next one. She had the gift of hospitality, and their home was always filled with love and joy – and food and puzzles and card games (SO many card games!). She strengthened her faith through 36 years of studying God’s Word together with her BSF sisters whom she loved dearly.

Her ability to live fully was a result of God’s care and provision – first from her husband Gary, who not only took her on many amazing moves and adventures around the world but also provided for all her daily care needs with love and humour. As those needs became greater, God brought many wonderful women into their home who ultimately became part of our family. We are so grateful for all of them, but especially Sadifa, Kari, Ruta, Wanda, Krista, and Arsenia, who have been with us for so many years and who have not only cared for her but also loved her so beautifully.

Mom loved her family, and her grandchildren were a special joy. She never missed a dance recital, a soccer (football) game, a hockey game, a graduation, or just a regular day to talk to them, encourage them, and pray for them. They were always loved practically with cinnamon buns and cookies even if she had to send them across the country to be enjoyed. Grandma will be dearly missed by Britney, Megan, Tyler, Jack, Luke, and Madison.

Besides Gary, her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Diane will be missed by her daughter Glenda (Dave), her sons Trevor, and Craig (Maria), her sister Jane, as well as extended family and many dear friends.

“The Lord will keep you from all harm – He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”  Psalm 121:7-8
