Condolences
To Rosemary and Alex - I was so sorry and surprised to hear that your Mom and Grandma had passed away so suddenly. At St. Peter's she was a force to be reckoned with - a great volunteer with ACW, St. Peter's Players, Fall Fair, convening "Vera's Boutique, serving as a sidesman and sitting on the ACW Board, Diocese of Calgary. When she moved and was no longer coming to church, we sure missed her, but kept in touch via phone. A life well lived - she has gone to glory.
I had the great pleasure of volunteering with Vera at Honens Piano Competition events. She was a wonderful role model whose energy and enthusiasm were contagious and most welcome. She will be missed. My sympathies to her family.
My deepest condolences to Alex and Rosemary. Vera will be deeply missed, my family and I knew her for her beautiful smile and big heart. She is unforgettable lady.
May her soul rest in peace.
Faye
Vera was the volunteer Co-Chair of Honens Volunteer Headquarters for their 2000 Honens Competition when I met her about 24 years ago, and she volunteered regularly up to Honens 2020 Fall Festival. Vera was as interesting as she was interested and she could hold her own on any subject. I marvelled at her quick sense of humour, wisdom, and ability to live in the present and although she didn’t drive she got me going in the right direction when I got horribly turned around when we were going for lunch. She enjoyed a lovely relationship and was so proud of her daughter Rosemary and grandson Alex and spoke often of them both and the importance they each played in her life. My warmest sympathies to you both. I am truly blessed to have known Vera.
My deepest condolences to Rosemary & Alex. I had the great good fortune to meet Vera about 30 years ago when we were both volunteering with the Calgary Philharmonic. I have many happy memories of shared times during years of volunteering at Benny the Bookworm, Mozart on the Mountain, the Honens Piano Competition, etc. She was a very dedicated volunteer and always so pleasant to be around that other people wanted to work with her. I hadn't been in touch much during recent years but am really happy that we got together for a coffee & visit this summer. She was still interested in what was going on, had a great sense of humor & positive outlook. She was a special lady & I'm really glad I knew her.
My family and I are sending our deepest condolences to everyone during this difficult time. She was such a wonderful and loving person, her strength, wisdom, and warmth will always be remembered as she touched the lives of everyone who met her. Rest in peace
I met Vera when she moved into the Marda Station Condominium and she lived directly across the hall from me; we soon became good friends often having a quick phone chat a couple of times a day or I would pop over when she would call and couldn't quite get her jar of marmalade open. She spoke so often about Rosemary and Alex in the best loving way any Mum or Grandma ever could. We got into deep discussions about politics and worldly affairs, religion (both of us being Anglican), the Zoo and Rosemary's passion and Alex moving to Edmonton and on and on. A group of ladies in the Condo formed "The Loopy Ladies" and we met once a week on a Wednesday, usually for 3 or so hours. Vera always came. Vera never drove and I used to marvel at how well she navigated the City getting out by taxi. I once kidded her that she must own a taxi by now and with that sparkle in her eye and smile on her face she said "dear, I think I own the company". And we laughed and laughed. I am so truely blessed to have had Vera come into my life and I will cherish so many wonderful memories. Miss you my friend.
Sending my most heartfelt sympathy to Vera's daughter and grandson. I had the pleasure of meeting Vera last year and assisting her with some jewellery repairs when she came into my store. She was always so lovely to chat with and I marveled at her ability to navigate living on her own and getting around the city. May she rest in peace.
