Obituary of Robin Arthur Owens
February 11, 1944 – Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan
November 18, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Robin Owens, beloved husband of Marjorie Owens, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2024, at the age of 80 years. He was a loving husband and a dedicated father to his son, Ben Owens.
Rob was a graduate of Western Canada High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta and a Master of Science degree from the University of Calgary. He was a member of the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists and a devoted volunteer with the Canadian Wildlife Service Breeding Bird Survey.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Rob had a passion for woodworking and spent his free time creating beautiful pieces. He also loved to travel and had many memorable adventures around the world with his wife, including two safaris in Africa and visiting his father's grave in France. Rob continued travelling with good friends after Marjorie’s passing.
Rob is survived by his son Jacob Benson “Ben” Owens, his daughter-in-law Andrea Jill Manzer, and his two grandchildren, Copelan Brie Manzer and Tate Mitchell Owens. He was predeceased by his parents, Allan Ralph Owens and Amy May Thompson, as well as his grandparents, Arthur Benson Owens, Kate Leona Rogers, Robert Benjamin Thompson, and Fern Narcissi Erickson.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Rob's honour at The Lake House restaurant (747 Lake Bonavista Drive SE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 12:30 p.m.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Rob's neighbours and personal caregivers who helped make it possible for him to live in his home after his stroke. Rob will be most remembered for his positive, supportive, and loving attitude towards life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
