Obituary of William Holbrook Bonney

William (Bill) Holbrook Bonney of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the age of 88 years.

He was predeceased by his wife Lawrie (nee Johnston) and his brother Morgan and is survived by his two daughters Alison (Darin) and Cara, his four grandchildren Will, Duncan, Georgia, and Quincy, and his half-sister Gail (Neville).

Bill was born in Toronto, ON to George Bonney and Ruth Bonney (nee Morgan). He attended McGill University from 1954 to 1958 graduating with a BA. He then attended UBC from 1959 to 1961, graduating with a law degree. He came to Calgary, AB in 1961 and joined the Macleod Dixon law firm where he practiced for 40 years, primarily in energy law and then latterly in international trade law. He met his wife Lawrie in law school, and they married in 1962. He became an enthusiastic member of the Glencoe Club in 1963 where he played badminton very well and the Glencoe Golf and Country Club where he played golf very badly but with great enjoyment.

A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at The Glencoe Club (636 29 Ave SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
