Obituary of Paul Joseph Timko
June 3, 1935 – Tilley, Alberta
November 21, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
The family of Paul Timko is saddened to announce his sudden passing on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the age of 89 years.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather “Dido”, uncle, friend, and teacher, Paul was born in Tilley, AB, but spent most of his life in Calgary.
Paul shared 58 years of love and partnership with his wife Florence. Together they raised three children, Leanne, Mark, and Joleen. Joleen married John Davies, blessing the family with two cherished grandchildren, Nate and Anya, who brought endless joy to Paul’s life. He also shared a special bond with Manou and Rhys Davies. We will miss him deeply and are endlessly grateful for the years we were able to spend with him.
Paul found joy in building a family cabin in the Shuswap, alongside his closest friends. The cabin became a central meeting location where we worked, played, and solved the problems of the world at happy hour and around the campfire. He was also an avid fisherman who found peace and excitement fishing year-round wherever he could.
A passionate educator, Paul loved working with students. He was proud to be the first principal of Father Lacombe High School, a role in which he believed he made his greatest professional impact.
Paul was predeceased by his mother Filomina, father George, and brothers, George and Steve.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Dr SE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall at the church.
Paul was a committed blood donor to Canadian Blood Services. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may also be made directly to any of the following charities that he supported: Cancer Research, Alberta Lung Association, Covenant House, or the Calgary Catholic Education Foundation.
The family would like to thank the EMS first responders and the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Foothills Medical Centre, Cardiac Care Unit for their compassion and dedicated care.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Paul’s family here.
