Ronald Davis, beloved husband of Mabel Davis (nee Duckett), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the age of 95 years.
Ronald was born in Calgary, AB, on May 6, 1929. He married Mabel Duckett in 1953 at Central United Church in Calgary and together raised their four children, Bradley, Heather, Thomas, and Nancy.
Ronald graduated from Western Canada High School in 1946 and later went on to the Provincial Institute of Technology and Arts (now SAIT), achieving a degree in Electrical Technologies. He also apprenticed and received certification as a Journeyman Electrician and later, Master Electrician. Ron was a long-time member of the Electrical Inspectors Association of Alberta. He later received his 40-year contribution as a City of Calgary Senior Safety Codes Officer, second in command, receiving a gold watch from Ralph Klien. Ron quickly moved on from retiring from the City of Calgary, to working for the British Columbia Government as a Senior Safety Code Officer for seven additional years and soon after, started Davis Inspection Services Ltd. in 1995.
He was a member of Scouts Canada and was an avid troop leader, as well as a youth pastor at St. David’s United Church. Ronald accomplished much throughout his life, but most of all, he was particularly proud of his grandchildren and all their achievements in school and in life, admiring them as beautifully kind human beings.
Ronald was a kind man, soft-spoken, quick-witted, chock-full of moral integrity, and he raised his children to be the same.
Ron shared his love of British Columbia with his young family and took them camping and boating on Mara Lake and the Okanagan. Ronald later built a cabin on the lake, known as RM4, with his kids in Windermere, BC, where he enjoyed family time at the lake and projects with his kids and closest friend, Darlene Vinge.
Ron played football in his youth, was a Winter Club curler, and loved to golf in the summer. He particularly enjoyed helping people with their projects and would never refuse Chinese food as payment.
His most memorable vacation time was with family at the lake, and he loved sitting on his deck and having coffee with his kids. Later in life, Mabel and he moved into their summer home and would spend their winters in Mesa, Arizona. Ron enjoyed his vacation in Hawaii with his wife and oldest son Brad’s family. Ron and Mabel also loved their cruise along the Panama Canal with their friends from Mesa.
Besides his loving wife Mabel, Ronald is survived by his two daughters, Heather Greenwood (Seymour, TX) and Nancy Davis (Calgary, AB); and son-in-law Tommy (Butch) Greenwood; two sons, Bradley and Thomas (Calgary, AB); daughter-in-law Gail; three grandchildren, Tyler (Fort Worth, TX), Michelle and spouse Kady Huhn (Vancouver, BC), and Glenn and spouse Sophia Chan (Calgary, AB).
Ronald was predeceased by his mother Gladys Sulz (nee Stuart), stepfather Herbert Sulz, father Roy Davis, half-brother Don Davies, and favorite aunt, Mary Holstine (nee Stuart).
