Obituary of Patricia Gladys Hodgson

December 20, 1935 – Prince Albert, Saskatchewan

January 6, 2025 – Calgary, Alberta

Patricia Gladys Hodgson, beloved wife of the late John "Raymond" Hodgson, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the age of 89 years.

Gladys was born in Prince Albert, SK, on December 20, 1935, to Harold and Bessie Bannerman. She was one of six siblings, William (Bill), Frances (Sis), Flora (Babe), Dave, and Keith, whom she stayed close with all her life. Gladys met Ray at 14 years of age, and they married on February 25, 1955. Their love story lasted 70 years, married for 66 of them. They lived many places and travelled together in their motorhome in retirement, always returning to family in Calgary. She fiercely loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always kept in touch with extended family and the friends they made along the way.

Gladys loved dancing, especially with dad. It was a beautiful thing to watch them glide across a dance floor. She will be remembered for her cinnamon buns and fresh baked bread. She could feed anyone, anytime. Her most wonderful trait was her kindness and care for friends and family. She made everyone feel loved and special.

Gladys is survived by her four children, Hal (Linda), Dorothy (Terry), Trudy, and Ross (Clinton); five grandchildren, Bradley (Emily), Gregory (Laurel), Amy (Andrew), Cory (Annie), and Emily (Will); and four great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Ryker, Aurora, and Kenzie. Gladys is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Raymond, baby Marie, her parents, Harold and Bessie, her brothers, Bill, Dave, and Keith; and sisters, Frances Mackie and Florie Pocha.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
