Obituary of Margaret KEARNS

December, 29, 1923 – Calgary, AB April, 24, 2014 – Calgary, AB The family of Margaret Kearns are sad to announce her passing on April 24, 2014. She was born in 1923, third child to Helen and Sylvester Gilfoy. Following graduation from St. Mary’s Girls High School she worked as a book keeper until meeting the love of her life, Jack Kearns. They married in 1946 and established a loving and fun-filled home at “1938” where they raised six children. She was very active at Holy Name church, a willing volunteer at the schools and a trustee with the Catholic School Board. Marg enjoyed golf, backgammon, big family dinners and always: a good glass of wine! She loved life, and life loved her. Jack, her husband of 53 years and daughter Noreen welcomed her in heaven. Marg is survived and much loved by her sister, Helen (Carl) Werbisky, and children, Bill (Wendy) Kearns, Jim Kearns, Susan (Francis) Pilley, Dan Kearns, Kathleen Ennis, eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 – 34th Street S.W.) on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
