Obituary of William Charles Billy WADDY

August 31, 1952 – November 29, 2013 It is with utmost sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who, in the early morning hours of November 29, 2013 with his family by his side succumbed to complications from pneumonia at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. Born on August 31, 1952 in Calgary, Alberta to Charlie and Irene Waddy, Billy is the youngest of four children, and was the “all-important” first boy. Billy grew up in a house just off 17th Ave SW, near to the Model/Palm Dairies where his Father worked until retirement. Like his sisters before him, Bill spent some time working there as well. It was in part due to this time spent working in the Dairy that the four Waddy children credit their desire to seek a post-secondary education. Billy began his career with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) in Penticton, British Columbia in 1982, while at the same time attending classes enroute to graduating as a Certified General Accountant in 1987. In 1988, Billy moved his family back to Calgary and continued to work for the CRA until his tragic accident in February, 2013. While Billy’s patience (or lack thereof) was something of legend, Billy was passionate about life and strove to bring laughter to everything he did. In addition to being a dedicated father and brother, he was an attentive friend and neighbor, who was seemingly able to befriend everyone that he met, and lighten any room he stepped into with his booming voice and unmistakable laugh. Billy will be lovingly remembered by his two sons Blair (Fela) and Gordon (Sharmane), his three grandsons Chase, Nathan & Lucas, and his three older sisters Lorraine (Bill), Doreen and Linda (Gene), his special friend Paula Martin, extended family and many friends . He was predeceased by his father Charlie and his mother Irene. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Calgary Family Services – #200, 1000 – 8th Ave S.W., Calgary, Alberta T2P 3M7 or calgaryfamily.org.
