Obituary of James Murray SERVICE

1930- Brooks, AB 2013 – Calgary, AB James “Murray” Service of Calgary, AB, passed away on October 6, 2013 at the age of 83 years. Murray was the only son of James and Edna Service of Brooks, AB. In 1952, Murray started working for Trans-Alta Utilities and retired after 37 years of service. He was an avid sportsman and spent many years on the baseball diamonds as an umpire; he was later inducted into the Alberta Baseball Hall of Fame. He was very proud of his volunteering which included the Calgary Olympics, the original group of White Hatters, and as a volunteer driver for the Tom Baker Cancer Center. Murray is survived by his loving wife and companion, Pat Tetz and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Papa Murray was loved by all his family. He is also survived by is loving sister Bonnie Stephen and her family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ken Cody for his kindness and continued care for many years.
