Obituary of Alice Evelyn DRUMMOND

September 19, 1924 – Entwistle, Alberta July 28, 2013 – Calgary, Alberta Alice Drummond passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the age of 88 years, after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. Alice was the eldest of three daughters, born on September 19, 1924 to parents Ella and Claude Hellyer, who were homesteaders in the Drayton Valley area at the time. She moved with her family to Calgary in 1943, where she met Ken and they were married in 1949. Alice and Ken raised their sons in Calgary and were an inseparable pair until Ken’s passing in 1995. Until her recent illness, Alice remained in her own home, enjoying good health and an active social life with a broad circle of friends, including her special friend Ernie Brown, and his family. Alice is survived by her sons, Terry (Elaine) and Garry (Leslie) Drummond; sister Eileen (John) Lauritsen; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her husband Kenneth; and sister Elsie Cullen. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
