Obituary of Kim Ileen MALIN
August 14, 1952 – Calgary, AB
July 26, 2013 – Calgary, AB
Kim, beloved wife of Gerry Malin, passed away suddenly after a long and courageous battle with cancer on July 26, 2013 at 60 years of age.
Kim was born and raised in Calgary, and spent her whole life in the city she loved so much. She met Gerry while they were working at the Energy Resources Conservation Board. They were married on June 9, 1973. Kim was a devoted wife and enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom while raising their two children. She was very proud and supportive while watching her son, Darren, play hockey and her daughter, Shawna, compete in highland dance competitions for many, many years. Kim enjoyed playing tennis, golfing and spending time with her family and friends. Her love of children and a desire to help others inspired her to volunteer in the Perinatal Clinic at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Kim pursued her passion for singing by joining the Alberta Gold Chorus of Sweet Adelines International in 2007. She was a very caring and loving person and her positive attitude was an inspiration to those who knew and loved her.
Kim is survived by her beloved husband Gerry; her son Darren (Alexis) Malin; her daughter Shawna (Tyler) Worden; her parents Norma and John Bogle; her sisters Linda (Terry) Anderson, Eileen (Derek) Holden and Deb (Mike) Matkin; brother-in-law Ron (Liz) Malin; sister-in-law Sherrill Barker; and all of her extended family. Kim was predeceased by her father Fenton Montgomery.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
