I am your cousin, Tessa, and the niece of Allan Broomfield and daughter of the late Gerald R. Broomfield. Today, this December 28th 2014, I have only just discovered via internet that my Uncle Allan had passed July 2013. At this late date I would like to pay my respects to his surviving family, Alana, Jill, Penny and Dena. A number of decades have passed since last visiting with my cousins, but our brief visits as children will live in my memory. My strongest memory of Uncle Allan was when he lost a bet when I was eight years old. Much later in my adulthood he had made good on that debt when he took my father, my brother and me to dinner. He will be long remembered. I now reside in Hertfordshire, England with my husband, Nicholas. My sister, Susan, resides in Washington State with her husband, Gerry. My brother, Wayne, resides in a suburb of Vancouver as does my dear Mother, Marie Thérèse Théroux.

Jean and I are saddened to learn of Al’s passing.

He was always the guy I liked to sit with at the monthly oilfield oldtimers’ luncheons. A loyal, interesting and fairminded

gentleman for sure. We were priviledged to have had his friendship these 60 some years.

Dear Alana, Jill, Penny and Dena,

We are extending our Sympathy to the death of your dad.

Last time I saw you was at the funeral of your Mom. Many years have gone by.

We are still living in the same house and your house owned by Monique now is still “the Broomfield” house.

On Saturday we are in Grande Prairie where Helen lives, her middle daughter Susanne is getting married. Her youngest daughter 13 is named Alana.

We still remember you all fondly! Remember talking to your Mom, having Birthday parties, outings etc.

I worked for Al in the 60’s at National in South Edmonton, and had lost touch with most everyone. I enjoyed many lunches at the SS Legion with Al and Bud Swann.

My condolences go out to you, AL’s family.

What a great man!

I worked with Al at NSCO from 1975 through to his retirement, and saw him at several of the reunions after his retirement. I was in my early twenties when I first met Al. That is when I started working at National on 51st Avenue. He was a mentor to me, and in many ways a fatherly image: providing advice to me, a young man who had lost his father quite young in life. He was a very good person and I wish you my sincere condolences.

Dear Family of Al Broomfield –

There are not many of us left of that era and I regret that I did not complete my intentions of meeting Al once again to personally thank him for his past kindness to me.

I sold a lot of electrical rig equipment to National Supply – through Al Broomfield – in the 70’s, when Al suggested I contact a new Houston company Ross Hill Controls, which was offering new SCR electric drive drill rig technology which was the first-ever of that process. It changed my life and my business future. Al was a good friend to me, very fair, and always offered generous gems of wisdom.

Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of a fine man.

We are sorry to hear your Dad has passed. We remember him and your Mom so fondly in our early years of marriage. They always made a point of visiting us when Alana and I both lived in Glen Allan in Sherwood Park. He will be missed.
