Obituary of Allan Keith BROOMFIELD

April 1923 – Edmonton, AB July 2013 – Calgary, AB Allan Broomfield, spouse of Trudie Broomfield, died suddenly on July 11, 2013 in Calgary, AB at the age of 90 years old. Allan spent the first years of his life in Edmonton, AB and later in Ft. Saskatchewan. He joined the air force at age 19 and was stationed throughout western Canada. During this time, he met Trudie and spent many hours on the train between Manitoba and Banff in the pursuit of courting her. Al and Trudie were married in 1944, in St. Mary’s rectory in Calgary. Al spent his entire career in the Alberta oil patch after hitching a ride to Calgary soon after the Leduc Well discovery. Dad retired after more than 35 years in the oil industry and he spent a number of his retirement years in Stony Plain. Dad will be sadly missed for his quick wit, love of Canadian politics and history and his generous spirit through the years. Allan is survived by his daughters Alana, Jill (Warren), Penny (Maurice) and Dena (Curtis); 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his spouse of 50 years, Trudie, in 1995 and his 2 brothers, Jack and Gerry. As per Allan’s request, no formal funeral services are to be held. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
