Obituary of Olive Mary LAU

1942 – Chesterfield, England 2013 – Calgary, AB Olive Mary Lau beloved wife of Ka Ming, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the age of 70 years. Olive was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England. She trained as a nurse and midwife. In 1974, Olive and Ming and their two young children immigrated to Canada. She worked first as a nursing aide and later as a librarian at St. Philip School and then Father Doucet School until her retirement in 2001 after the birth of her first grandchild. Olive was adored by her grandkids. She spent many hours reading and singing to them, and of course spoiling them! Olive enjoyed spending time in her garden and watching the many different birds that would visit her yard. Olive’s beautiful smile and kind spirit will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known her. Besides her loving husband Ka Ming, Olive will be dearly missed by her children, Sarah (Matthew) and Simon (Stella) and her precious grandchildren, Katie, Zac, Sidney and Stasia. She is also survived by her brother and sisters, Mamie (John), Peter (Linda) and Joan (John) in England; and her sister-in-law, Lisa, in Indonesia and their families; as well as Ming’s sisters and their families in Hong Kong, England and Toronto. She was predeceased by her parents Jim and Joan Davenport, and her brother Bob.
