Obituary of Alice Elsa SHEPARD

December 10, 1926 – March 3, 2013 Alice Elsa Shepard, beloved wife of Art (Arthur), passed away peacefully at home Sunday, March 3rd, 2013 with her husband and children at her side. She is lovingly remembered by Art, her husband of 60 years, her children Colleen (David) and Russ (Irena), and her six grandchildren Christopher, Stephen, David, Glenn, Alex and Anna, as well as her brother Reinhart and sister Adeline. Alice was born on the family homestead in Hay Lakes, Alberta. She and Art were married in Edmonton in 1952, started their family and eventually moved to Calgary in 1962. Alice loved to garden and her flower beds were always the envy of the neighbourhood. Music was also an integral part of Alice’s life. She was a long standing member of many church choirs and took great pleasure in listening to her children and grandchildren perform. Alice’s family was her greatest joy, supporting and encouraging her children and grandchildren in all of their endeavours. Her support wasn’t limited to just the family, Alice was an avid Calgary Flames and Stampeder fan watching as many games as she could and coaching from her chair. In her later years, as Alice’s health declined, additional support within their home was needed. Our family is very grateful for all of the wonderful caregivers and doctors who have cared for Alice over the years. Funeral Services will be held at Hope Lutheran Church (3527 Boulton Road N.W. Calgary, AB) on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Daranne Harris Presiding. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
