Obituary of Kenneth John BARDELL
September 10, 1926 –Vulcan, Alberta
December 24, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta
Ken beloved husband of Kathleen Bardell (nee Kamis) of Calgary, AB, suddenly passed away on December 24, 2017 at the age of 91 years. Ken is survived by his two daughters Brenda Bardell-Resch (Ron), Bonnie Cheesman (Rob), and four grandchildren, Lacey Valckx (Trevor), Brianne Clark (Mike), Sabrina Resch (Alex), MacKenzie Resch (Katie) and four great grandchildren.
Ken was predeceased by his parents Jesse 1942 and Louise 1971, his sister Lois 1945 and his brother Claude 2009.
Ken was born in Vulcan, Alberta and lived in Langdon eventually moving north to the Beddington district. In 1954 Ken sold the farm and his mother and him moved to North Hill Calgary and he began his transit career. Ken met Kay at the Calgary Safeway and they married in November 1956 and recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Ken stayed with Calgary transit until his retirement in 1989 and was a popular driver with his passengers on the number 10 route. Upon his retirement he was heavily involved in volunteer work both with the Huntington Hills Pioneer Club and The Calgary Food Bank. In recognition of outstanding service to the people and province of Alberta he was awarded the Alberta Centennial Medal on September 1, 2005.
Ken will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, and an incredible grandfather and great-grandfather.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Saturday December 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at Chapel of the Bells. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
