Obituary of John Edward GRISDALE
November 21, 1932 – December 6, 2012
Ted Grisdale, beloved husband of Margaret Grisdale of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the age of 80 years.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years and his four sons and their families which made him extremely proud; John (Nancy), Dan (Tamara), Rob (Kerri), and Brent (Tiffany) including eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Audrey Grisdale, his sisters Marilyn Trigg and Neila (Don) Russell, and Victoria (Tony) Stubbs. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Audrey Grisdale, his brother Gerry Grisdale, and his brothers-in-law Richard Trigg and Lorne Indridason. Ted was also very fond of his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends enjoying their company at all of the family events over his lifetime.
Ted was very devoted to his wife and family. He was tremendously active in the communities in which he lived and was well known for his selfless volunteer work with organizations that he and his family were involved. This included: coaching hockey and girls soft ball in the communities he lived, supporting the development of the Junior “A” Royals/Mustang’s hockey team, a founding director for “Canada’s challenge for the America’s Cup”, various board positions in the Willow Park/Maple Ridge Community Association, The 400 Club, the University of Calgary Diving Club, Alberta Section of the Canadian Amateur Diving Association and Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club. He also volunteered with The Calgary Stampede, Foothills Academy, and the Kinsmen Club. The family would like to thank all his doctors and many caregivers for their excellent care during his illness.
Funeral Services will be held at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street S.E.) on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers donations could be sent to the Foothills Academy or the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
