April 16, 1960 – August 14, 2012 Barbara (Barb) Louise Duban of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home with family on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the age of 52 years. She was born in High Prairie, AB on April 16, 1960, and resided in Calgary. Barb was married to John Duban on August 16, 1984 and they were happily married twenty-eight years. Barb will forever be remembered for her uncompromising strength, contagious laughter and beautiful smile while staying true to her Buddhist values of kindness, compassion and love. She had a profound impact on Calgary’s spiritual community, attending and hosting a wide array of events to raise the spiritual awareness of her and friends alike. A savvy businesswoman and successful entrepreneur, she was continually looking for new challenges to satisfy her appetite for family success. Barb had a zest for life and didn’t want to miss anything, especially when it came to her family. After a short period with the Provincial Government, Esso Resources and completing an Economics degree from the U of C, she purchased three businesses in 1994 and grew them into two iconic retail destinations in Calgary: Peacock Boutique and New Age Books & Crystals. Her latest endeavor was the near completion of an assessment degree while working for the City of Calgary. Barb’s love for her family was paramount, taking time to enjoy travelling, skiing, hiking, soccer, running, cycling and gardening. A devoted wife and mother, Barb took great pride in her children’s life and accomplishments. Barb is survived by her husband John Duban; and three children, Michelle Morigeau, Yvan and Julian Duban. She is also survived by her father and mother, Howard and Yvette Morigeau; her sisters, Corrine MacSephney, Janine Morigeau, Jacquie Burke, and Margaret Kirkland; and her brothers, Paul Morigeau and Gerry Morigeau, and their families of which thirteen are nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Barb’s Life will be held at Parkdale United Church (2919 – 8th Avenue N.W.) on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. The family of Barb Duban wishes to thank Palliative Home Care Services as well as her sister Jacquie Burke for her unwavering love and support.
