Obituary of David William Bill BARNETT

April 22, 1926 – May 11, 2012 David William “Bill” Barnett beloved husband of Sheila of Calgary, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012 at the age of 86 years. Bill was born in Leask, Saskatchewan, but lived most of his life in the city he loved, Calgary. Bill’s greatest joy was spending time with Sheila, the love of his life. He loved his family deeply and especially enjoyed our regular Sunday night dinners together! Bill and Sheila were married in January, 1951, and enjoyed sixty-one and a half wonderful years together. Bill was a sergeant in the Air Force in WWII; after which he attended the University of Alberta, obtaining degrees in both geology and engineering. His many hobbies included gardening, sport shooting, hunting, wood working, playing cards with friends, skiing, reading history books especially about WWII, and long walks with Sam, his well-loved Labrador retriever. After Bill retired, he volunteered at Meals On Wheels for fifteen years and actively supported Sheila in all her volunteer and church activities. Besides his loving wife Sheila, Bill is survived their three children and their spouses, Tom (Jayne) Barnett, Dan (Janice) Barnett and Jane (Doug) Easton; niece Sherral Clark; grandchildren, Nathan (Danielle), Matthew, Jillian (Bowen), Clare and Eve; and little Alexandra, their great-grandbaby. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
