Obituary of Margaret EVANS

November 29, 1914 – March 8, 2012 Peggy Evans of Calgary passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the age of 97 years. Peggy was born in Llandaff, South Wales, and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1926, settling in Calgary. Peggy was an original member of the Calgary Ski Club, an active member of the Calgary Badminton Club, the Calgary Tennis Club and a playing member of the Canyon Meadows Golf Club for over 50 years. After being employed by Imperial Oil for 20 years, she became an active member of the Esso Resources Annuitant Club. Although she contributed to two eight enders, she never scored a hole in one! She enjoyed bridge all of her life, and enjoyed the company of numerous friends. Mum traveled extensively during her lifetime, and visited every continent when it was adventuresome for a woman to do so. We, her family, admire her and raise a toast to her and celebrate her life. Peggy was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1957, and her brothers John, Eric, Philip, and Geoff. Peggy is survived by her son Tim (Janice) of White Rock, BC, son Michael of White Rock, BC, and daughter Deborah of Calgary; three grandchildren, Kathryn, Scott, and Michael (Joelle), and two great grandchildren, Jackson and Grace. Our thanks to the staff at Intercare Chinook for their wonderful care and compassion over the past two and a half years.
